Humbled

Matthew 23:12 - For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Sometimes the Lord moves and directs you when you least expect it. I needed to be humbled today, and the Lord provided. I have taken for granted my role as a mother. I complain, I gnash my teeth when I hear my baby cry, when something gets broken, I step on a toy,or have to listen to my toddler whine. I think; ugh, why me?!?
WHY ME?
A pretty selfish state of mind I've been in lately, huh? Whilst in my selfish state of mind, I was casually scrolling through my blog roll, a fellow blogger mentioned this site; http://aniandmatttaylor.blogspot.com/ .
When I read this families beautiful story, I sobbed. I have been chosen to care and raise up children, what a gift and a blessing I have been given. After wiping my tears, my beautiful baby girl awoke from her nap, it was music to my ears to hear her cry, I scooped up my babies and gave them hugs and kisses.

 I am grateful.
I am humbled.
Please read about sweet Ruby Jane, she is changing lives with her story.

adventure walks

The treasures found by one 18 month old and a 2 1/2 year old around our yard. I was their tour guide for the morning, pointing out objects and picking flowers, helping brush off dirty knees, and telling them what pine cones were. Now Everett asks if we can go on an adventure walk every time we go outside. Thank you Lord for the beautiful weather, it makes these little moments that much sweeter.

crazy talk: a reupholstering job part 1

I'm trying my hand at reupholstering some chairs, crazy talk, I know. So far the demo portion of the project has been smooth sailing. {I may come to regret those words later}. The chair you remember from here.

The fabric:

I picked up some drop cloth from home depot months ago for various projects and this great floral bird number is actually a shower curtain I found at goodwill for $4.99, what a steal! Wish me luck! So far the hardest part I for see being, is sewing the cover for the cushion and the double welting, GULP. Two things I have never attempted. Did I mention I have limited sewing skills? Double GULP.

Do you also like how I don't clean up any of my before pictures? I'm just keeping it real. I always have five projects going at once, so it's normal for our covered patio to have a rug, a recliner, baseboards, a paint can, and a dog kennel hanging out under it, doesn't everyone?

on my heart

Every time I hear one of Phil Wickham's songs I get lost in worship, he is a talented singer and song writer. And such a testament to using his God given talents to draw people closer to our CREATOR. Happy friday, enjoy!

Easter {Hop}penings

I am officially on Easter detox, this weekend has wiped me out. 3 Easter egg hunts,7 Easter baskets, and a birthday party. And we still have my family festivities this week!

Me trying to tell my toddler NO MORE candy, as he shoves whopper eggs into his candy stained mouth before I notice has proven to be fruitless.
I may or may not have snagged some goodies from some of his Easter baskets that were just too good to share. Can you say, Starburst jelly beans and Reese's pieces?

I made $14 from an "adults only" Easter egg hunt that bodes cash instead of candy. My kind of Easter egg hunt. I apparently have a reputation for being a bit of a brutal beauty at it. As announced before the start, by my brother in-law who has a good foot in height and a hundred pounds on me. Technically, no one said throwing elbows wasn't allowed.
An altercation with a pregnant lady also may have occurred at that same hunt, not once but twice. She's family she'll forgive me. There was a $20 egg at stake, people. Don't judge.

Overall, a very fun filled weekend. Now I'm ready to put my feet up during nap time and enjoy some of Everett's my Easter candy.
