Sunday Stroll

My weekly finds of wonderful decorating inspirations and ideas. Enjoy!

 This Week:  Danish/Mid-Century Modern

*Although I don't always gravitate towards modern design for my home. I like a few mid century  pieces that are timeless and that would marry well with my vintage inspired decor.

Here comes Harper! (Part 2)

Continued...

After we determined my sister in-law to be okay and her car safely resting in a parking space by the dealership. She and I were off to the hospital. It took us about thirty five minutes to get to the hospital, and we arrived around 10:30 a.m. Then began the waiting game. Little did we know that it would be a LONG, LONG, LONG time before baby Harper would grace us with her presence. The whole family and I waited in the aptly named waiting room. We waited all day, getting updates from my sister in-law's sister, periodically. As the evening came to a close, many of us had jobs, kids, and dogs to get home to. That morning there were 10 people waiting for Harper's arrival, by nightfall 5 remained. As it grew closer to midnight my sister in-law's sister came and informed us that she had to go home because her Crohn's disease was acting up and needed sleep, as well. My poor sister in- law had been stuck at 9cm dilated for over six hours. She finally got an epidural and was able to sleep, hours prior to midnight. They tried everything rolling my sis back and forth in a sheet to get the baby to drop lower in the birth canal. Having her sit on a ball, changing positions, anything to help her dilate that last cm. But nothing worked! I barely slept, if at all even though I had work in the morning because I was waiting for my brother in-law to come get me when she was ready to push. Finally at 3:10 a.m. he texted me letting me know she was getting close. I jumped up and headed to the room.  I was so nervous and excited all at the same time.  That I was about to witness such an amazing event. As soon as I got into the room, he  handed me his phone and told me to record the birth when it was time. After 3 hours of pushing it was finally time, Harper Morgan made her debut into the world at 6:17 a.m. It was such an amazing, amazing moment one I will never forget!!!

Here comes Harper!

This week has been very eventful to say the least! On Wednesday of this week at 7:00 a.m. my hubs and I were awakened by a phone call from his brother. He informed us that at 12:30 am my sister in-law's water broke, and that they had rushed off to the hospital. I jumped out of bed, took a quick shower, called my mom to watch baby E, and I was out the door! As I neared the edge of town my hubs called telling me he needed the car seat that was still in my car.  AAAAHHH! so I turned around and headed back home. When I pulled in he asked if I could just stay and wait for my mom instead of our original plan of him taking baby E to work, where my mom would pick him up there. So I begrudgingly said yes, hopped out of the car and started waiting for my mom. I soon got a phone call from my other sister in-law asking if she could get a ride with me to the hospital after she took a quick nap. I told her I was in the process of leaving a.s.a.p. and wouldn't be waiting for her nap, so she decided to drive over to my house instead. The time now was around 8:15 a.m. and I was beginning to freak out because I didn't want to miss anything! My mom finally showed up just as my sister in-law was calling me to tell me she just got in an accident. A car had stopped short and instead of pushing on the brakes, she pushed on the clutch pedal and slammed into the back of a man's truck. Thankfully she was okay, just a little shaken up, but her car was totalled.

At this point I just decided to drive to our family's business which happens to be a car dealership. My sister in-law had the car dropped off there since it would be cheaper than leaving it at an auto body shop.  The time now was 9:45 a.m. you can imagine I was freaking out at this point. I didn't want to miss any of my other sister in-laws birth. She had been in labor for nine hours by this time. I don't want to seem insensitive, I was very relieved that my other sister in-law was okay from her car accident! But I REALLY REALLY needed to get to that hospital. I was suppose to be one of the birthing coaches and felt terrible that I had missed their phone call at 12:30 a.m. that night.

It's the great pumpkin (patch), charlie brown!

As I've said before FALL is my favorite time of year. We truly enjoy going to many different pumpkin patches to sample there fun activities. This year we had the opportunity to go to 2 different patches; Bauman Farms and EZ Orchards (both located in Oregon). We enjoyed hay rides, apple cider doughnuts, corn mazes, slides, and of course finding the perfect pumpkin!
Baby E and I
The hubs and I were especially excited to share our tradition with our new little addition, Baby E. Although he is only 9 months old and may not know exactly what a pumpkin patch is, it is still fun to share it with him.

Health Nuts!

Yay! we are healthy again at the Casa de Miss Vintage :) My little E ran a fever for three days, we I couldn't stand him being miserable anymore and decided to take him in to see the doctor, just a flook thing I guess no exact diagnosis. That sure didn't help my new mom anxiety!
But thankfully he is back to his old self, crawling and laughing all over the house. And I can get back to my old self keeping up on this ole' blog again!

Currently Loving :My Favorite color

One of my all time favorite colors is ROBIN'S EGG BLUE, I'm pretty much in love with this color. My family will be the first to tell you I can't get enough of it, if I could, my entire house would pretty much be painted this color. My obsession began when I was planning my wedding four years ago. I stumbled across a wedding magazine using these colors and I was hooked. I changed my wedding colors that very day to chocolate brown and robin's egg blue and never looked back! So yeah totally obsessed, doesn't even begin to describe it. The majority of my house and decor will have touches of this color, in one form or another. I just love using this color because it's very tranquil and relaxing, whenever I see this color palette it reminds me of being at the beach, a place I love. So I naturally gravitate towards things that have this color in them. LMV+robin's egg blue = LOVE!!!!

Here are some lovely vintage blue  jars I picked up at a thrift store for under a buck for both!

Blackberry Junction

I had the privilege of going to a craft bazaar held only 3 to 4 times a year called Blackberry Junction in Albany, Oregon. They had great homemade goods, food, furniture, 'junk', and antiques. It was such an amazing time spent with some wonderful friends. We had such a blast at blackberry junction we made a day out of it enjoying lunch and perusing local antique shops in the town's quaint downtown area.  It definitely inspired me to get started on more of my own craft projects for around the house and to possibly sell on Etsy
