Up next

My next project; you know when I finish my other umpteen hundred other projects, like this one. I'm thinking gold leaf and chalkboard paint? Something similar to this:

What do ya think?

Life is a highway

My Everett is obsessed with vehicles. Big ones, little ones, one's with eyes and smile-y faces, one's that make a sound, or none at all. He loves to drive them around the house, on the couch, or even the stairs.

You almost never see him go somewhere with out one in each hand. They litter the house, our car, and his bed. Some mom's fear of stepping on lego's in the middle of the night, I fear cars.  When he plays by himself, you can hear him making up dialogue for the cars. Something similar to: "Truck, where are you?", "I'm right here!" or "Hi, how are you?", "oh, good".

It makes me smile,
every. time.

My boy has such an active imagination, it is so cute to watch him play. Although he has more cars then he knows what to do with, (and it's true his daddy and I are suckers for buying him more and more). I know this stage won't last forever. So I'm soaking it up as long as I can before it's over.
Play on, my little man, play on.

The one where I get all sappy and sentimental

Today is June 7th. Not a very important date to most, but to me it's a day that makes me smile. On this day in 2002 a very handsome and sweet 16 year old boy drove me home from school, parked in front of my families apartment, grabbed my hand and asked: will you be my girlfriend? My answer, was of course, YES!
From that moment on we've shared 3,653 days, thousands of kisses, hugs, hand holds, and cuddles.
This picture is about 2 years into our relationship, and me getting caught stuffing my face full of KFC and fritos. Classy.

On December 7th 2006, we became man and wife

On January 2nd 2010, we welcomed our first child: Everett Leo

Bought our first home January 21, 2010

Welcomed our second child: Zooey Jane, October 14th 2011

We've spent a decade making memories; laughing, crying, telling each other our secrets, we've experienced loss and triumphs and failures together.
We aren't perfect, we make ALOT of mistakes. But at the end of the day we are still each other's best friends. We try and love each other like 1 corinthians 13: 4-8 and the Song of Solomon teaches, do we succeed? Not all the time, but we are both works in progress, and we know it.

There is something comforting in knowing you can be your absolute self with someone without fear of rejection. We are big dorks and we don't care.

I love you, my dear. You make me laugh and smile everyday. I'm so proud of the life we've built together thus far. Here's to the many more decades to come!

I love the 60's

Apparently I have a hidden love affair with 1960's architecture. I don't know what it is about them. Some people are drawn to cute cottage houses:

or quaint craftsman style homes:
Craftsman Style Homes

Don't get me wrong craftsman's still get my blood pumping. But give me a mid-century ranch and I will be wiping drool off the floor.

Helllllooooooo, lover!

Who knew I was a sucker for these 'modern' relics?
You'd think I would have realized it by now since our current home is in fact a 1960's ranch. Duh.
I was dream building the other day on Windermere properties.com and two houses jumped out at me from all the rest. Both, you guessed it. Mid-century modern ranchers.

Here is my top choice with all the bells and whistles our family is looking for:

Imagestore

4 bed 2 bath
0.39 acre lot
2170 sqft.
vaulted ceilings
hardwood floors
new carpet
updated kitchen and baths
backs to private farm land so it won't be built up around it.
Seriously who wants to buy it for us?

A baby 'sprinkle' for Whitney and Tatum

I had the great pleasure of spoiling my sister in-law and my second niece-to be Tatum, yesterday.  We had a small intimate party with only about ten guests, . My sister in-law and I love all things vintage-y, so decorating this 'baby brunch' was a breeze. I know if i love something she will too, it makes gift giving a no brainer. Thanks to Pinterest, I can look like a natural party planner.

I offered a brunch style spread with gobs of delicious foods and treats. The peppered bacon was a HUGE hit. I may or may not have been propositioned (by more than one guest) to go back in the kitchen and cook up some more. Note to self, never underestimate these ladies lovin' some good bacon.

If croissants wasn't spelled wrong, this would be an even better picture of some of the menu items, womp womp. I blame sleep deprivation.

Whitney acquired some darling new outfits, much needed diapers, reusable nursing pads, a beautiful pillow with her favorite phrase to tell her girls at bedtime,

and this beautiful one of a kind treasure box for Tatum.  I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Even handsome Tripp partied hard, falling asleep in his mothers arms, I don't think there is anything cuter. Except for maybe the little bit of drool escaping from the crook of his mouth. Melt. My. Heart.

I am thankful for the mess to clean up after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends. -Nancie Carmody
